Mira Furlan è una delle attrici croate più famose, con una lunga carriera nella ex-Jugoslavia, dalla quale, insieme al marito Goran Gajić, è emigrata negli Stati Uniti nel 1991, in seguito alle tensioni politiche in essere nel suo Paese in quel periodo.
Divenuta membro dell'Actor's Studio, Mira Furlan ha dedicato la propria carriera al teatro, oltre al ruolo in Babylon 5 e a sporadiche apparizioni nel mondo cinematografico. Da citare il ruolo interpretato nel film di Emir Kusturica Otac na sluzbenom putu (Papà è in viaggio d'affari), vincitore della Palma d'Oro al Festival di Cannes.
Mira Furlan parla correntemente, oltre al croato, anche inglese, francese e tedesco. Ha partecipato, insieme ad altri attori di Babylon 5, all'incisione di un CD musicale. Il marito, Goran Gajić, ha diretto l'episodio And All My Dreams, Torn Asunder di Babylon 5, oltre ad avere ispirato il nome di Aldous Gajic (Grail), per stessa ammissione di J. Michael Straczynski.
