Crusade 102 - The Memory of War

Durante l'esplorazione di un pianeta da lungo tempo senza vita, l'equipaggio della Excalibur scopre un temibile virus.

• L'equipaggio della Excalibur esplora un pianeta ormai desolato, sul quale diversi anni prima si è svolta una guerra tra due fazioni. Una di queste ha assoldato un Tecnomago, che ha sviluppato un virus basato sulle nanotecnologie, che ha infettato le menti delle sue vittime, portandole ad uccidersi l'uno con l'altro, fino all'estinzione.
• La Dottoressa Chambers, con l'aiuto di Galen, è riuscita ad adattare una parte dei nanovirus raccolti sul pianeta rendendoli capaci, una volta inalati, di proteggere una persona dal contagio del virus dei Drakh per circa 48 ore.

• L'Apocalypse Box dice a Gideon di non fidarsi di Galen. Questo potrebbe essere un errore di continuità narrativa scaturito dal cambiamento dell'ordine di trasmissione degli episodi rispetto a quanto previsto inizialmente. L'affermazione dell'Apocalypse Box potrebbe infatti riferirsi a quanto accade in The Well of Forever, episodio girato successivamente ma andato in onda prima di questo.
• Nel 2267 il papa è una donna, Bernadette II. Il fatto che nel ventitreesimo secolo i papi donna siano considerati una normalità era già scaturito in Racing Mars, quando Garibaldi rivela che il papa in carica è appunto di sesso femminile.

• Ecco come ha risposto J. Michael Straczynski alle critiche di un fan riguardo alla presunta scarsa credibilità della soluzione del nanovirus modificato per proteggere dal morbo dei Drakh: "Funny... the microbiology experts at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory who vetted the script thought it would be a) a useful thing indeed, and b) extremely useful as a template in attempting to understand how the Drakh virus works".

• Il nanovirus inventato in questa puntata è già stato utilizzato in Patterns of the Soul, in cui viene trattato come una tecnologia già conosciuta. Il problema di continuità narrativa deriva dalla modifica dell'ordine di trasmissione rispetto a quanto stabilito originariamente da J. Michael Straczynski per le pressioni della rete televisiva che ha trasmesso Crusade negli USA.
• Un altro problema di continuità scaturisce dal fatto che in The Well of Forever Gideon ricorda a Galen che quest'ultimo ha sostenuto in passato che l'equipaggio della Excalibur è come una famiglia per lui, affermazione che il Tecnomago invece fa per la prima volta in questo episodio.
